Talent Attraction Management for European Cities and Regions 2017

May 31st-June 1st 2017
Registration is closed.

The event is closed for registration. See below for course description. Here is a summary.

The Talent Attraction Management Training Course 2017 in Berlin went well. This was a sequel to the 2016 trainings in Amsterdam and Copenhagen.

In co-operation with Berlin Partner, the two day workshop had a very international crowd. We had up to four people delegations. Cities-regions represented included Singapore, Dubai, Birmingham, Süd Tirol, Copenhagen, Berlin, Brandenburg Region, Aarhus, Hannover, Work in Estonia, Oulu, Turku, Skövde, Create Lithuania and The New York Times.

The feedback from participants and other partners show that there is a demand for not only talents, but the knowledge and tools on how to attract them. This is certainly true of the Nordic and Baltic Sea Region (for example, see blog post Northern Dimension Partnership on Culture (NDPC)).

This created a good vibe, resulting in lively conversations during every break and workshop discussion. Many participants said they took a lot away from this.

Going from theory to action – the last workshop part concentrated on change management and what are their next steps. Participants wrote down the “what and how” they will be doing from now on. Which does not diminish their challenges of course. But there is a plan or a plan emerging!

This is an annual event and we will be on the lookout for the next location (so far Amsterdam, Copenhagen and Berlin). Otherwise we hold 4-5 private and tailor made sessions like this every year with various partners.

Competition is picking up and more locations are moving fast with their talent attraction efforts. We are glad to have had the chance to ride Berlin’s wave. People now have an even better association and understanding of why Berlin is a great place for talents.

Course description

The global competition for talent is rapidly intensifying. Not only do employers need to step up efforts to attract and retain international talent, but cities, regions and countries are now entering this competition as well.

More and more European locations are now taking active steps to enhance their attractiveness to skilled workforce, creative talent and entrepreneurs – but what are the best strategies and tools for attracting talent, now and in the future?

Due to high demand, we will now do a new and updated version of the international training programme Talent Attraction Management for European Cities, Regions and Countries, that provides you with strategies and tools to successfully attract and retain talented people.

The training programme is based on a combination of hands-on, inspirational case and strategy presentations, interactive discussions, case assignments and study visits.

The programme instructors represent some of the leading practitioners in the field in Europe: all with hands-on experience planning, implementing and evaluating international talent attraction and retention efforts on behalf of cities, regions and countries, as well as extensive experience in executing training initiatives.

We are also happy to announce that the session will take place in Berlin in co-operation with Berlin Partner.

Focus of training programme

Based on best practices from the Nordics, Europe and selected global regions, the programme will cover some of the following topical issues:

  • Marketing and attraction strategies
  • Brand building and how to run effective attraction campaigns
  • Creating talent ambassador networks at home and abroad
  • Ensuring soft landing, reception and integration of talents
  • How to launch new initiatives – change management in a regional setting
  • Organisation, financing and governance in a ‘multi-helix’ context
  • How to optimise the link between innovation, FDI and talent attraction
  • How to measure impact – developing key performance indicators
